Geodetic control surveys are usually performed to establish a basic control network from which supplemental surveying and mapping work is performed. Geodetic network surveys are distinguished by use of redundant, interconnected, permanently monumented control points that comprise the framework for the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS).

These surveys must be performed to far more rigorous accuracy and quality assurance standards than those for control surveys for general engineering, construction, or small scale topographic mapping purposes. Geodetic network surveys included in NSRS must be performed to meet automated data recording, submittal, project review, and least squares adjustment requirements established by the National Geodetic Survey (NGS).

Coleman & Associates has been working to establish a Geodetic control network in Denton County, Texas. With the addition of a permanent fixed  Global Positioning System (G.P.S) receiver mounted to the roof of the building. We also have established many geodetic control networks across our work area and have many Online Positioning User Service (O.P.U.S.) corrected control points throughout our network .

Geodetic control must be established when permitting Radio and Cell Phone Towers
